Website for American Friends Service Committee honored by Webby Awards

We are grateful to be recognized for our work with the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) as a 2023 Webby Honoree for the Non-Profit Website category.

Founded in 1917, AFSC has been on the forefront of some of the most important social movements in working for a more just, peaceful world. AFSC works with communities to challenge unjust systems and promote lasting peace. They focus on three strategic goals: just and sustainable peace; just economies; and just responses to forced displacement and migration. They were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1947.

Madeo partnered with AFSC on creating a visual identity system and a new large-scale website. Madeo’s team of strategists, designers, engineers, and project managers undertook discovery and research, information architecture, UX/UI design, motion design, and web development. Together, we built a high-performing, accessible website to serve a large and varied audience of supporters, donors, researchers, and partners.  To suit their needs as a historic, international organization with a wide range of locations, issues, and programs, we developed a unique modular design system for their website that is flexible and scalable, encouraging people to interact with their courageous work.

We are thrilled to see the new website for AFSC recognized at the 27th Annual Webby Awards, by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Our project was recognized as one of eleven Honorees in the 2023 Webby Awards in the Non-Profit Website categories, out of more than 14,000 submitted projects. The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, recognized by the NY Times as “The Internet’s highest honor.”
